WEEE Follow

In 2020, Electrão started an internal research project - the WEEE Follow - to understand the path of used electrical equipment after being placed in the delivery channels for recycling. It was confirmed that one of the biggest problems in the electrical waste recycling sector is the parallel market that diverts this equipment from the formal circuit, before it is collected by the certified and competent entities. This deviation implies the incorrect dismantling of equipment that results in air, land and water pollution and impacts the country's recycling goals. The findings motivated a national initiative, which brought together all electrical equipment management entities, in a National Inspection Campaign, which took place during 2022.
