Take-back and Treatment

Since 2018, we hve contributed to the improvement of the national packaging collection and recycling system, essential for the recovery of materials, for the preservation of the environment and for the transition to a circular economy.

One of the main objectives of Electrão continues to be to raise awareness and educate citizens, who are increasingly aware of the negative impacts that the lack of packaging recycling has on the environment.

We invested in several campaigns to raise awareness and promote more sustainable behavior in which we drew attention to the importance of changing consumption patterns and the need to send waste to the correct places.

We promoted several awareness campaigns in 2022, of which we highlight “TransforMAR” and the “Mafra Reciclar a Valer +” project.

Collection is organized into three main types of packaging:

  • plastic and metal in the yellow recycling bin
  • paper and cardboard in blue recycling bin
  • glass in the green recycling bin

Mafra Reciclar a Valer + collects 2.5 million used packaging drinks

“Mafra Reciclar a Valer +” is a project to collect empty plastic bottles and beverage cans through deposit machines. The packages are placed in these machines by the citizens with the intention of being recycled and reincorporated in the production cycles of new materials and products. For each package delivered, the citizen receives a voucher to use in different services.
